On Tuesday, December 2nd the youth of the Lowcountry joined us for a very special event, Teen Life: Unfiltered.
It was a way for us to connect to the teens in our community and to let them know we are here, there is help, and we are listening no matter what kind of hardships they may be facing. It was incredible to see our community come together!
The event was hosted by NBC News 2’s Rob Fowler, his daughter Kylie Fowler, and 95SX DJ Brooke Ryan.
But we can’t forget that the mics were left open to all of our teenagers and even parents.
The Wando Highschool Chorus joined us to perform during the event, and I must say they did a wonderful job!
They sounded… almost heavenly as their voices beamed around the auditorium.
Brooke Ryan and her family shared with us the hardships her little sister faced while dealing with Bi-Polar Disorder, a mother shared how she had to deal with loosing her teenage son to teen suicide, and News 2’s Tara Lynn shared how she realized and ultimatly overcame dealing with teenage anorexia.
We invited the teenagers to step up to the microphones and ask questions to our panelist of Doctors, Counselors, Teachers and Clergymen.
This was a total success, not just for us as a television station, but for the teenage community!
On behalf of my colleague’s, I thank everyone who came out to this event, contributed to the success and for all of you who tuned in maybe online or on the Lowcountry CW. Thank You!
I invite you to leave comments regarding the episode, or always feel free to
